Setup Thunderbird

How to set up your email with Thunderbird

 
Step #1: Add additional email addresses to thunderbird

Navigate to localfolders -> ...


Step #2: Download Thunderbird program + First Popup

Open Thunderbird (if you don't have the program yet, you can download it here)

In the first popup, click "Skip this and use my existing email"


Step #3: Mail Account Setup

In the "Mail Account Setup" popup, add your name, existing email and password that you use to access that email.

Click "Continue" after filling in your information.


Step #4: IMAP + Add information manually

With "IMAP (remote folders)" selected, click the "Manual config" button.

"A" - Should be your name
"B" - should be your email
"C" - should be the domain (e.g. mail.yourdomain.com)


Step #5: Set as default email client

Once you've clicked "Done", you might be asked if you want to set Thunderbird as your default email client


Step #6: Compose a new message or access the calendar

After everything is set up, you should see the main Thunderbird email window. To compose a new message, click "Write" in the top left. To access the calendar, click the calendar image in the top right.


Step #7: Modify Mail (Incoming)

On the Top menu bar,

1 - click Tools and then click Account settings.

2 - On Account Settings popup window, select Server Settings

3- Now make the changes (Server Name, User Name, Local Directory etc...) if needed and click OK


Step #8: Modify Mail (Outgoing)

On the Top menu bar,

1 - click Tools and then click Account settings.

2 - On Account Settings popup window, select Outgoing Server (SMTP)

3-  Click Add to add new server name OR click Edit, Remove or Set Default by selecting the list of names already added to modify.

4 - Click OK


Step #9: Add-On Conversations: download

Conversation view allows you to see both the email you send and receive in a merged format.

This makes it really easy to follow the conversations.

 

On Menu Bar, click Tools and then select Add-ons.

if all the Add-ons are not showing click See All.


Step #10: Add-On Conversations: Add-on to thunderbird

Type conversations in search box and click enter.

In the list of search results, look for Thunderbird Conversations  and  click  Add to Thunderbird  next to it.


Step #11: Add-On Conversations: Show conversations View

Now conversation Add-on is added to thunderbird. 

on Top Menu Bar click View and select Conversation View to show.

 


Step #12: Sending Emails

Open Thunderbird. On top Menu Bar Click Wrtie button


Step #13: Add Info and send

on the new opened window, add the email address to be sent, add the subject of the email and 

body of the email. 

and then click send

the window will automatically close once the message is sent.


Step #14: Email signature set up: Select Settings

1 - Click on email 

2 -Click View settings for this account option under Accounts section.


Step #15: Email signature set up: Method 1 - Using Html

In the Account settings popup window,

1 - go to  Signature text section and check Use HTML 

2 - In the text field, Type in the signature informaion.

3 - When the signature is ready, click OK

Now, when you are ready to write an email, your signature will show at the bottom of the write panel.


Step #16: Email signature set up: Method 2 - Attach the signature from a file instead

In order to attach the signature, first create a file containing your email signature and save it in your computer

In the Account settings popup window,

1 - Check Attach the signature from a file instead(text, HTML or image):

2 - Click Choose button

3 - Browse the email signature file you saved it in your computer and attach

4 - Once the file has been attached. Click OK

Now, when you write an email, your signature will show at the bottom of the 'write' panel.


Step #17: Add additional email addresses to thunderbird

Navigate to ->Accounts -> View Settings for this account -> Account Actions

Click Add Mail Account.

on the "Mail Account setup" window, Add name, email address and the password for the email address and press Continue

 

Thunderbird will try to determine your account settings based on the domain portion of your email address (that is, the portion after the "@" symbol).
